PERU- DBSA Support Group
The DBSA (Depression, Bi-Polar, Anxiety, Association) of the Illinois Valley support group meets every first and third Monday of the month on the fourth floor in conference room C from 6:30-8 p.m. at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. For more information, call (815) 252-0200. 


STREATOR - Bingo every Monday
The Streator Women of the Moose hold bingo every Monday evening from 6 to 9. Come for the fun and bring a friend or two.

Attention Medicare Beneficiaries! You may qualify for money saving benefits through the Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs. Both Programs have income and asset guidelines. PRINCETON- Diabetes Meeting Offered Monthly
Perry Memorial Hospital wants to provide information and support to those who are dealing with diabetes. Each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, Perry has an informational meeting to provide up-to-date guidelines and realistic ways to manage the diagnosis of diabetes. There will also be time at each meeting for open discussion and sharing of ideas. Please contact at (815) 876-4449 to register for this meeting.


PRINCETON - Genealogical society to meet    
When the Bureau County Genealogical Society meets at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, the program will be presented by LaVern and Doris Johnson from Malden. WALTHAM - Trivia night hoedown
Waltham Elementary School will hold a trivia night hoedown on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Course. Doors open at 5 p.m. and trivia starts at 7 p.m. Food will be available. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, raffles, silent auction and cash bar. Cost is $10 per player, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top teams. Proceeds benefit Waltham School Dist. 185. Call 343-4436 to reserve your table. Teams will consist of 6 to 10 players.


Band-Aids to host chili/cornbread dinner
STREATOR - The Streator Grade School Band-Aids will host a chili and cornbread dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Polish National Alliance Hall in Streator. Tickets are $10 and are available in the Northlawn Junior High office 672-4558  or at the door. The dinner will feature chili with assorted toppings, homemade cornbread, dessert and water or soft drinks. A cash bar also will be available. Rays Rockets Band will perform from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with dancing available. The SGS Band-Aids is a community group formed to help fund the Streator Grade School band and chorus programs.


MENDOTA - Annual dinner/auction
Holy Cross School will host is annual dinner auction on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Mendota Civic Center. The event will again feature 176 Keys Dueling Pianos, a request-driven mega-interactive musical party! There will also be great food, a live and silent auction, raffle and wine pull. Doors open at 5. PERU - Food pantry fundraiser
North Central Bank will host a fundraiser, featuring dueling pianos, for Project Success and the Hall Township Food Pantry on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Peru Eagles Club. Tickets are $15, with all proceeds going to Project Success and the Hall Township Food Pantry. Tickets are available at Peru Eagles, Hall Food Pantry or North Central Bank in Ladd and Hennepin, member FDIC.

CORNELL - Annual spaghetti dinner
The Classic Clovers 4H Club will host its annual spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, in the Cornell Legion Hall in Cornell. Adults are $5, senior citizens are (62+) are $3 and children under 12 are $3.


UTICA - Retreat to the rock
Retreat to the Rock, a non-denominational Christian ladies retreat, will be held March 6 and 7 at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center in Utica. The retreat offers Bible-based teaching, a variety of workshops, praise and worship, a prayer room, warm fellowship, food and more. Call 343-4695 for reservations.


LOCKPORT - 44th Annual Old Canal Days Festival
The 44th annual Old Canal Days Festival, including the annual Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21, 2015. The juried arts & crafts  is on Saturday the 20th 10-5 p.m. and Sunday the 21st 10-4 p.m. Booth fees are $100 for standard and $120 for a corner. However, there is an "early bird discount" of $20 per booth if applications are received by Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
