PERU- DBSA Support Group
The DBSA (Depression, Bi-Polar, Anxiety, Association) of the Illinois Valley support group meets every first and third Monday of the month on the fourth floor in conference room C from 6:30-8 p.m. at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. For more information, call (815) 252-0200.

The Streator Moose will host bingo this Friday night and every Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

The Streator Women of the Moose hold bingo every Monday evening from 6 to 9. Come for the fun and bring a friend or two.

Attention Medicare Beneficiaries! You may qualify for money saving benefits through the Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs. Both Programs have income and asset guidelines. PRINCETON- Diabetes Meeting Offered Monthly
Perry Memorial Hospital wants to provide information and support to those who are dealing with diabetes. Each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, Perry has an informational meeting to provide up-to-date guidelines and realistic ways to manage the diagnosis of diabetes. There will also be time at each meeting for open discussion and sharing of ideas. Please contact at (815) 876-4449 to register for this meeting.


LASALLE - Free amplified phones available
Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living will hold an open house from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, to distribute free amplified phones. There are no age or income restrictions for these phones. Call 815-224-3126 to schedule an appointment, although walk-ins are welcome.


MENDOTA - Library program to focus on Lizzie Borden
Join Graves-Hume Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, as storyteller Trciai Kelly brings Lizzie Borden back to life. Borden was accused of murdering her stepmother and father, but was acquitted. Hear the story for yourself and you be the judge. Call 538-5142 to sign up for the program.


PRINCETON - Genealogy society to meet
The Bureau County Genealogy Society will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. at the society library 629 South Main Street in Princeton.  Don Schmidt, superintendent of the Toulon Cemetery, will be the featured speaker. 


STREATOR - Day of peacemaking
Students in grades 7th through 12th are invited to a day of peacemaking on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Park Presbyterian Church. The event will include free pizza, games, discussion and crafts.


CHERRY - Templeton Band to appear at social
The Templeton Band will appear at the month Cherry pie and coffee social hour from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the Cherry Church Hall.


UTICA - Retreat to the rock
Retreat to the Rock, a non-denominational Christian ladies retreat, will be held March 6 and 7 at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center in Utica. The retreat offers Bible-based teaching, a variety of workshops, praise and worship, a prayer room, warm fellowship, food and more. Call 343-4695 for reservations.


STREATOR - Free children's orthopedic clinic
The Streator Elks 591 Lodge, in cooperation with the Illinois Elk Children's Care Corporation, will sponsor a free children's orthopedic assissment clinic on Monday, March 9. The clinic is from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and is by appointment only. Call 800-272-0074 between the hours of 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are no charges for any services at this clinic. The clinic will be held at Orthopedic Associates of Streator at the office of Dr. A. Roy.


SPRING VALLEY - Army Field Band to play in Spring Valley
The city of Spring Valey will present a free concert by the United States Army Field Band, The Volunteers, at 7 p.m. on March 12 at Spring Valley JFK. Advanced tickets are required and available at Spring Valley City Clerk's Office, or by sending a selfaddressed stamped envelope with a note requesting the numer of tickets to Army Band Tickets, 215 N. Greenwood St., Spring Valley, IL  61362.


ODELL - Spaghetti dinner and auction
The St. Paul Booster Club will hold a spaghetti dinner and auction at St. Paul School in Odell on Saturday, March 14. Serving hours will be from 4 until 7 p.m. but doors open by noon for silent auction bidding and auction item viewing. The dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, Avanti's bread, drink and dessert. Carry-outs are available. Call 998-2194 for more information.


AMBOY - Annual gala set in Amboy
The Amboy Education Foundation will sponsor the sixth annual wine, beer and cheese tasting gala on Monday, March 23, at the Long Branch Saloon in Amboy. The event will be from 6 until 8 p.m. and tickets are $20 each. Guests receive eight complimentary tickets to tast eight different samples of wine and beverages and a commemorative wine glass. All proceeds benefit the Amboy Education Foundation. Tickets are available by calling 815-857-2164.


SPRING VALLEY - Habit for Health race
Third annual Habit for Health 10k race and 3 mile fun run will be April 18, at 9 a.m.  Registration is now open at runrace.net. The event starts and ends at St. Margaret's Hospital West Pavillion. UTICA - Nothing's Sweeter than a Child
LaSalle County CASA (court appointed special advocate) will hold its 8th annual "Nothing's Sweeter than a Child" chocolate sampling and auction on April 19, 2015, at Celebrations 150 in Utica. Proceeds from the event helps train and support volunteers who work one-on-one with abused and neglected children.


LOCKPORT - 44th Annual Old Canal Days Festival
The 44th annual Old Canal Days Festival, including the annual Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21, 2015. The juried arts & crafts  is on Saturday the 20th 10-5 p.m. and Sunday the 21st 10-4 p.m. Booth fees are $100 for standard and $120 for a corner. However, there is an "early bird discount" of $20 per booth if applications are received by Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
