Doddy Lee County
Lee County Prosecutors have now filed 12 murder counts against 36-year-old Terence Doddy of Rockford.  He's now formally charged in the July 1st killing of 44 year old Tonya Bargman at an Interstate 39 rest stop near Paw Paw.  Doddy is accused of asphyxiating Bargman before stealing the Monticello woman's car.  Doddy has pleaded not guilty in Winnebago County for the June 30th killing of a Rockford man, and is to be arraigned today in Lee County.

La Salle County Police Pursuit
A Peoria man is in jail after a police chase early this morning. The La Salle County Sheriff’s office says deputies assisted Grundy County and Morris police after a pursuit had entered into La Salle County. La Salle County deputies eventually stopped the driver on Illinois Route 71 in Newark. Deputies say that the driver, 27-year old Joshua Foster, is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding of police, speeding 100 MPH, along with some other traffic offenses.

Deer Hunting Season
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is announcing some changes for the upcoming deer hunting season, and one of the changes will impact Bureau County  Department Director Marc Miller says 20 counties will be removed from the late winter season, and Bureau County is  included in that list.  The changes followed recommendations from department biologists.

Illinois Health Insurance
 Officials say a confusing legal battle over the health care overhaul shouldn't have any immediate effect on Illinois health insurance customers. One court ruled Tuesday that the federal government couldn't offer financial aid to people in states like Illinois that use the federally-run insurance market. Another court ruled the opposite. About 168,000 Illinois residents have qualified for subsidies.
Utility Rates Mendota
Utility rates are heading up in the near future in Mendota. Finance chair Bill Hunt says the cause of the rate hike is from several unfunded mandatory updates, such as upgrading the city sewer plant as required by the US and Illinois EPA. Water rates will go up to $20 from $16.75, sewer rates will go from $3.50 to $7 and garbage rates will go up to $13 from $11.25. Hunt said there is also an included charge for water and sewer line maintenance, following frequent water line freezing this past winter

Housing Sales
Housing numbers were are up slightly for the area. According to the Illinois Association of Realtors, houses sold in La Salle County are up 8.5 percent through June compared to last year and  Bureau County home sales were up this year by nearly 30 percent

Ottawa Man Aggravated Child Battery Charge
An Ottawa man is in jail following an investigation into a child abuse report. Ottawa Police say Sunday night they were called to Saint Elizabeth hospital after they were notified by emergency room staff of a possible child abuse case. Authorities say officers then drove to Saint Francis in Peoria to meet with family members of the victim. Authorities say that on Monday 23-year old Steven Bergland was arrested and charged with one felony count of aggravated battery to a child. Berglund was transported to the La Salle County Jail, held on a $1 million bond.

State Retiree Groups
 Lawyers representing state retiree groups say they aim to use a recent Supreme Court decision on health care benefits as a way to expedite their case challenging Illinois' pension legislation. The groups challenging the pension law say the same issue is central to their case. They say the law violates the state constitution which says public employee benefits cannot be "diminished or impaired."
