MENDOTA – The long time Chief of the Mendota Police Department announced he will be retiring. Chief Thomas L. Smith is ending his 21 year career as head of the force in February of 2019.
The 1969 graduate of Ridgewood High School in Norridge attended Triton College before joining the Schaumburg Police Department in 1975. In December of 1997 Smith replaced Chief Ken Haun to lead the Mendota Police Department.
