DIXON – The crowd that was gathered to watch the seniors at Dixon High School graduate stood as the police officer credited with saving their lives was honored by leading them into the gymnasium. The Sunday afternoon ceremony came just four days after a gunman opened fire during graduation practice. The school resource officer, Mark Dallas, returned fire and chased the 19-year-old gunman from the campus, who was then taken into custody after being shot. Authorities credit Dallas’s quick actions as the reason why no injuries occurred to faculty or students.
