OTTAWA – A church group in Ottawa is fighting hunger with micro food pantries. Earlier this week, Crossbridge Community Church unveiled a new micro pantry outside of Jeremiah Joe Coffee on LaSalle Street in Ottawa. Allison Appel, director of the church’s Feed His Children ministry, says the pantry gives an opportunity not just for the homeless, but with people struggling on a tight budget. Hygiene items and feminine care products will also be offered in the pantry. The church group had previously worked with pantry creator, Jeff Eberhard to provide a similar food pantry outside in LaSalle. Appel says the group will expand with their next food pantry adoption in Morris.
