LASALLE – A 67-year-old Minnesota man was injured after his motorcycle was struck by an ambulance early Tuesday morning. Illinois State Police say that Chris Boerner, of Culver, Minnesota, was seriously injured after his motorcycle was struck by an ambulance on I-39 near the Illinois River. Police say at 2:17 Tuesday morning, the driver of the ambulance, 55-year-old Wayne Christensen of Ottawa, saw he was quickly closing the distance on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and braked, but struck the rear of the motorcycle, ejecting Boerner. Boerner was taken to a local hospital where he was then airlifted via helicopter to a regional hospital. Police say neither Christensen nor a passenger in the ambulance were injured in the accident.
