DIXON – Complaints have come in to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office from residents who are receiving calls from individuals impersonating government officials demanding money. Sheriff John Simonton issued a warning Tuesday that a number of complaints have been taken from residents who have answered the calls. The callers represent themselves as being from the Lee County Civil Process Division and are threatening arrest unless the victim pays. The calls are currently under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office advises if you receive a call of this type do not pay the requester, hang up, and let authorities know.
