OTTAWA – Members of the LaSalle County Board voted to allow residents to vote on a sales tax increase in the upcoming April 2nd election. This could increase the sales tax in the county by 0.25%. Finance and Fee Chair Brian Dose explained that the county needs another form of revenue to fund public safety spending even after budget cuts. Although some board members expressed concern that the county has a “spending problem” and needs to address where the money is going, the potential increase was voted forward to the April ballot 22-2.
