SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley’s Fire Department is looking for more volunteers. In a city council meeting on Monday, Alderman Pellegrini addressed Chief Bogatitus’ concerns of lack of day time volunteers. According to Chief Bogatitus, the number of fire calls are increasing year after year. He explained that the lack of volunteers is a growing problem not only for the city, but nationwide. According to Alderman Pellegrini, the fire department has exhausted ideas and feels the only solution is to offer compensation. The city council was asked to review the data and reconvene at a soon to be announced Public Health and Safety meeting with ideas and/or suggestions.
