MENDOTA- A gruff situation transpired in Mendota Monday as police had to butt heads with an unusual escapee – a goat. Authorities were at first skeptical of the call, assuming it was dispatch just kidding around. The goat was apprehended in the 300 block of 2nd Ave. without incident and shoe horned into the back of a squad car. Although it did appear a bit hillbilly to have the animal in the backseat, it was returned to its rural owner. No citations were issued to the baaa’d goat at this time.
