PERU – Mayor Scott Harl announced that Peru would no longer be working towards the shared police service with LaSalle. Harl and council members expressed disappointment that the city would no longer be working toward the shared service agreement but explained that they felt it was no longer responsible while Springfield is still considering changes to pension laws. He also stated that he believed the shared service would be a “disservice to residents” and that police union members raised concerns that the plan would be counterproductive.
