AMBOY – Boats and Humvees were called to rescue over 40 people in a campground in rural Lee County from rising floodwaters. Amboy Fire Chief Jeff Bryant said a call came in around 6 AM for a camper worried about the flooding from the Green River in the 900 block of Green Wing Road. There were no injuries during the evacuation, but the Lee County Director of Emergency Management Agency, Kevin Lalley expressed concern about the forecast of more rainfall. The Red Cross and the Salvation Army were called in to assist those displaced.
Assisting Amboy Fire was Dixon City and Rural, Sublette, the State Emergency Management Agency, Bureau County EMA, Lee County EMA and the Department of Natural Resources.
