OGLESBY – Boaters looking to venture out on the Vermillion River at Lowell are out of luck. Bob Herbst, who runs the only whitewater rafting on the river says business is closed this weekend due to low waters reaching just two feet. He says were going to need another downpour of a couple inches of rain to get the river back up again, but the area isn’t expected to see that anytime soon. According to Weatherology Meteorologists Ray Miller, high pressure in the atmosphere is making for a hot and dry next couple of days, with a slim chance of isolated thunderstorms late Saturday. He says the quiet forecast isn’t expected to break until the middle part of next week. That’s when we could see a better chance of widespread rain.
