STREATOR – A water main break that prompted Streator’s boil order could have been a result of multiple factors. According to Illinois American Water Spokeswoman Karen Cotton, factors can include a sudden increase in pressure, dry soil or the condition of the water main. A drop in water pressure of 20 psi or below requires a boil water order per EPA guidelines. Illinois American Water conducted 20 water quality tests during the boil water order which confirmed water quality wasn’t impacted.
