Streator council not ready to approve sales tax district

STREATOR – Streator’s city council is not ready to make a final say on the proposed sales tax district without a letter of consent from businesses within. Before the city considers approving the business development district and imposing a retailers tax of 1% at the Northpoint Plaza Parcel, they are requesting a letter from developers that provides written consent from businesses like Big R. Mayor Jimmie Lansford says it’s a piece of information council has requested in the past. The city tables the proposal to revisit at a later date.
