OTTAWA – Local unemployment rates have remained fairly steady after a significant decrease in May. According to local unemployment averages for June by the Illinois Department of Employment and Security, statewide numbers made a slight decrease, now at 4.3% of persons unemployed compared to 4.4% last month. Bureau County was the only county locally to remain balanced at 3.7%. Putnam and LaSalle counties made a small increase of a tenth of a percent, with Putnam at 4.2% and LaSalle now at 4.6%.
