STREATOR – A leak detection crew is working to locate what Illinois American Water believes is a water main break in Streator. On Wednesday night, the Streator Fire Department reported low water pressure due to a water main break at an unknown location. This led to a boil water order for the Village of Dana, Longpoint and Ancona. Illinois American Water’s Spokeswoman Karen Cotton says the city of Streator’s water pressure is less than usual, but not low enough to call a boil order. As of today, Streator’s water pressure is around 40 to 50 psi. Anything below the 20 psi threshold does not meet EPA standards and requires a boil order. Cotton says the utility company has been in contact with the fire department and continues to investigate the cause.
