OGLESBY – Parkman’s Plain Parking Lot at Starved Rock State Park is now open. Visitors to Starved Rock State Park can now enjoy an updated parking lot at Parkman’s Plain or LaSalle Canyon along route 71 on the eastern edge of the park. According to IDNR Coordinator Lisa Sons, park staff closed the parking lot in April of this year to widen and improve parking spaces. The new parking lot can now accommodate up to 80 vehicles. The parking lot will undergo a few temporary closures in October to complete the final installments of construction. Future plans include a picnic shelter and restrooms.
