STERLING – A Peru man is one of 57 cadets who recently graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy. Earlier this month, Trooper Tavis Fivek reported for duty at District 1 in Sterling. Fivek a former telecommunicator for the ISP will ride along with a field training officer for the next 13 weeks before being released to solo patrol. He currently lives in Peru with his family and will continue to live there while he serves in Sterling.
