PERU – Peru’s city council approved a tax levy increase to raise contributions to their police and fire pensions. The 4.9% increase in the tax levy will cover just over $780,000 of the $2 million the city is slated to pay over the next year. According to City Finance Officer Justin Miller, it’s a slight increase overall, but a pension contribution increase of $360,000. Miller says homeowners with a home valued at $115,000 would pay $1.17 more.
