OGLESBY – Oglesby’s Police Chief will keep his job after the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety attempted to terminate it last week.  There was standing room only at Oglesby’s city hall Monday night, when the council convened to hear the legal opinions of City Attorney James Andreoni regarding of the actions of Commissioner James Cullinan. According to Andreoni and his reference to Illinois Municipal League code, in order for Jim Knoblauch to be removed, there would need to be a vote by council members. In a closed session, council voted to re-assign Cullinan to Parks and Recreation Commissioner, while another commissioner take on his former duties. Cullinan says he believes that Chief Knoblauch failed to fulfill his duties,  but in his words, “it’s water under the bridge.”
