PRINCETON – The boyfriend of a woman who authorities say was the victim of a homicide in Spring Valley has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. 38-year-old Eddie Lee Mentgen will serve at least 35 years in prison for the death of 28-year-old Marissa S. Roberts on April 5th 2019. Mentgen was in court Monday morning at the Bureau County Courthouse when he entered his plea. According to States Attorney Geno Caffernini and Assistant State’s Attorney Thomas Briddick they believe that the verdict of 35 years is sufficient prison time.
