OTTAWA – The city of Ottawa’s Thornton Park project is slated to begin this summer. The master plan for the park includes upgrades like a splash pad and remodeling the tennis and pickleball courts. Recently, the city was awarded a $300,000 grant with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to get the ball rolling on the estimated two-year project. Total cost for the Thornton Park upgrades is estimated at $600,000.
