OGLESBY – Oglesby is asking businesses in the community if they are interested in a state small business grant Wednesday night. They ask those companies to contact them before they consider going forward with navigating the process to gain eligibility to administer the Downstate Small Business Stabilization Program. The program allows small businesses of up to 50 employees to apply for a $25,000 grant as a result of the economic impact of COVID-19. Concerns were raised about the ability to comply with the open meetings act for hearings that have to occur for the grant due to distance rules. The grant requires businesses to fully disclose financial information, and that information would end up on the public record.
