OGLESBY- On Friday Illinois Valley Community College became aware that their computer system had been compromised by an outside source. According to an email from staff member Carey Burns, IVCC has already begun an investigation as to the nature and extent of the breach. They say their ability to continue education to those enrolled has not been adversely impacted. IVCC stresses that they are not aware of any personally identifiable information being leaked. An experienced consulting firm has been brought in to correct the situation and prevent future information technology issues.
A special meeting was scheduled Saturday morning to discuss the incident, which has crippled the website for the community college most of the day on Friday.
