OGLESBY – The Illinois Valley Community College President issued a statement regarding the death of a Minnesota man during an incident with police last week.
“IVCC’s core values of respect, responsibility, caring, fairness and honesty have long been the lens we look through when assessing how the college should respond to various situations,” President Jerry Corcoran said.
“In the case of recent demonstrations to protest the disastrous killing of George Floyd, I hope and pray that destruction and looting will end immediately, and people will model our core value of respect by basing relationships on the essential dignity of each individual; valuing diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities; and understanding that inclusion makes us stronger and able to perform at higher levels.”
