GUILFORD, Connecticut – A Connecticut man escaped with minor injuries after falling 30 feet through the floor of a home into an abandoned well. The Guilford Fire Department on Monday said the man was helping a friend move into the home that was built in 1843, plummeted into standing water when the floor gave way. He was rescued after treading water for 25 minutes at the bottom of the shaft. Authorities noted that the open well was not properly capped nor brought up to current code.
