SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,187 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, along with 8 additional deaths. At his press briefing, Gov. JB Pritzker announced that the state would also be changing the boundaries and number of health regions, going from 4 to 11. These regions are based largely off of the 11 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regions in the state. Pritzker also explained that Illinois now has the lowest infection rates among its neighboring states, but that residents still need to remember that the virus has not gone away.
