Illinois updates restaurant guidelines; masks are a priority

SPRINGFIELD – The State of Illinois announced a change to some of the policies regarding restaurants and bars in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting Wednesday, face coverings will be required during interactions with wait staff and food service workers. Patrons were already required to wear a mask whenever on premises, so these changes expand those rules to ensure the safety of employees. Governor J.B. Pritzker said in a statement that “this new requirement asks a little bit more of our residents dining out in order to protect their health and safety and that of our front line hospitality workers, as well.” Full guidelines can be found at the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity website.
