MENDOTA – A number of fires across North Central Illinois tested firefighters and the mutual aid system on Monday. A fire destroyed a home in Ladd and heavily damaged a home in Mendota, plus a number of smaller brush fires kept area departments busy on a day that had winds gusting over 40 mph. No serious injuries were reported.
