MENDOTA – A high wind event associated with a severe thunderstorm roared through Mendota around 9 AM Wednesday, knocking out power to much of the city and downing hundreds of tree limbs. Mendota Fire Chief Dennis Rutishauser urged residents to not drive around the community, as many of the downed lines are not secure. Com-Ed has activated a response team that will be en-route to the city that was battered by radar reported winds over 100 mph. Many streets remain closed as crews tackle the job of clearing the debris. No injuries were reported and no major structural damage has been found so far.
