STREATOR – The City of Streator plans to apply for a grant to support the development of the Streator Incubator. The USDA Rural Innovation Stronger Economy Grant would serve to fund a full time manager and additional program development and marketing at the Incubator. The overall $625,000 project would be split evenly over a four year term with a local match of $125,000. City Manager Dave Plyman says the goal of the grant is to increase regional presence. According to a feasibility study, if awarded the grant, Plyman says the additional resources will move the Incubator to a position where it can self sustain management after the four year term. The city council is expected to approve the grant application at their next meeting Wednesday.
