MENDOTA – A push tax on gaming terminals that was previously approved, charging establishments one cent per play on gambling machines, was repealed in Mendota.   Alderman Jay Miller asked for it to be withdrawn due to “timing issues”.  In February the Mendota City Council unanimously approved the increase in fees from $25 to $250 per terminal.  There are currently 116 video gaming terminals in Mendota.  In 2021 the machines netted over $200,000 in income to the city in taxes.
