Mendota Police remind residents about drug disposal program

MENDOTA – The Mendota Police Department is reminding residents about their drug disposal box they maintain in the lobby of the police department. Residents should take unused and expired medication to the station for proper disposal instead of to a landfill or flushing it down the toilet. Medication disposed improperly can lead to pollution. Every year the Mendota Police Department disposes of over 650 lbs. of medication. The plastic and containers are recycled and all medication is taken to an area incinerator for destruction.
