When is the appropriate time to take a sick day?

When is the appropriate time to use a sick day from work?  A recent poll of 1,000 people show that there is no clear cut time that everyone agrees on, and some of the answers may make you question other’s thought process.
1.  Just a cold?  19% say no.
2.  The flu?  8% say no.
3.  COVID?  7% say no.
4.  A doctor’s appointment?  12% say no.
5.  A dentist appointment? 14% say no.
5.  To get vaccinated?  28% don’t think it’s a good enough reason for a sick day.
6.  Feeling mentally overwhelmed?  23% say suck it up, buttercup.  That drops to 12% if it’s an actual “mental health crisis” though.
7.  To go to a funeral?  17% say no.
8.  To have surgery?  6% say no.
9. Having a severe menstrual cycle? 19% say no.
10. Caring for a sick family member? 12% say no.
There was only one situation where most people agree it shouldn’t be allowed.  56% of us don’t think you should be able to take a sick day to go interview for another job.
