LASALLE – The LaSalle Public Library will be offering a nine-week at-home education program for those ages 11 through 14. The courses will discuss times of “change” in Illinois, when glaciers covered much of the state and what happened when they melted. The educational kits, independent field trips, and a group field trip are part of a grant from Project Next Generation and the Illinois Secretary of State. Students will explore topics via online videos and hands-on mini experiments and plan and visit a field trip site with family and friends. The sites include the Illinois State Museum in Springfield, the John Deere Historic Site in Grand Detour; and the Sue and Wes Dixon Wetlands in Hennepin. Registration is required by April 8th and is limited to the first eighteen participants. Students who complete the activities in the three kits are also invited to a free, all-expense paid group field trip, including lunch and transportation to the Burpee Natural History Museum in Rockford.
