The Mexico City marathon had a total of 30,000 participants on August 27th. 11,000 of those runners have been disqualified for cheating during the race, using cars, bikes, and public transportation to cut parts of the course out. The race had checkpoints every 5 kilometers along the 42.195 kilometer course where those runners failed to check in.
