DIXON – Two people were killed in a two vehicle crash last night in Lee County. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a 65 year old Shabbona man was driving a semi on Route 30 when a car drove into his lane and collided with his truck.
Authorities say the driver and passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, and their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Sheriff’s officials say the truck driver refused medical treatment at the scene. The crash occurred last night shortly before 11:00 about 5 miles north of Paw Paw.
The incident remains under investigation, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by Paw Paw Fire Department, Illinois State Police, and the Lee County Coroner’s Office.
