OTTAWA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Rock Island District will temporarily close the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center in Ottawa on Monday. The temporary closure at the Starved Rock Lock and Dam is the result of budget constraints. Currently, there is no time line for reopening the visitor center. Organized groups which were already scheduled to visit the facility will be accommodated but the building will remain closed to unscheduled groups and general visitors.
