CHICAGO – Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White is encouraging families to read together for Illinois’ family reading night Thursday. White says that this is a night when families are urged to turn off all electronic devices and spend time reading to their children. He says reading together creates positive learning environments to help children develop language skills and reading comprehension. The Illinois Library Association’s 2018 iREAD theme is “Reading Takes You Everywhere”.
