MENDOTA – Community groups in Mendota are joining forces to raise awareness on drug addiction and provide training on how to use Narcan this weekend. Narcan is a synthetic drug that blocks opiate receptors, and is designed to reduce opioid overdoses. Event Coordinator DeeAnn Lohmeier of Mendota says this is the first local event of its kind. The event will provide doses of Narcan to people in need. Doors open at 1 p.m. at the Mendota Elks Lodge, with guest speakers and Narcan training to follow.
