STREATOR – Streator High School’s Superintendent says having a full time resource officer this year made a contribution to a decrease in violent events. In a board meeting last week, Superintendent Matt Seaton noted that this year was the first time the school has had a resource officer present full time and noticed a market decrease to violent situations. Police Chief Kirk Pastirik says, with school shootings across the nation it’s an important program to be apart of. Recently, annual SRO training was completed in conjunction with the fire department, known as a rescue task force. A continued intergovernmental agreement between Streator and Streator High School was approved of at last weeks council meeting.
