OGLESBY – Construction on Starved Rock’s overflow parking lot was expected to be finished by now, but with wet weather wrecking havoc it could take months. According to Site Superintendent Kerry Novak, rain and flood damage has significantly held things up at the state park. The overflow parking lot expansion project that was hoped to be ready by Memorial Day may take up until August to be completed, weather permitting. Not only have projects stretched longer than expected, but attendance has been down in affect. Novak says trails are still a mess, and while there hasn’t been any serious injuries to zealous hikers willing to brave the conditions, he says anyone visiting should be prepared.
