STREATOR – After more requests for neighborhood block parties, Streator’s council is looking to adopt guidelines. City Clerk Patti Henderson says she and staff need direction on how to handle requests for block parties because there aren’t any procedures in place. Durations and locations of where neighborhood parties can be held were discussed as well as encouraging first responders to participate. City Manager David Plyman says block parties give us the opportunity to get police and firemen out to build community good will. A policy is expected to be implemented in the coming weeks. The City Council will reconvene on Wednesday.
