SPRINGFIELD- In the latest survey released Monday by the Illinois Department of Public Health, the two main regions that serve North Central Illinois had plenty of ventilator capacity to help battle the current pandemic. It was reported that in the Peoria region, which includes LaSalle, Livingston, Bureau and Putnam County, that 199 ventilators out of 267 were available. In the Rockford region, which serves Lee and DeKalb county, 136 ventilators out of 163 were not in use. Statewide, of the 3,265 machines available, 59% were not in use, with 757 of those occupied by COVID or likely COVID patients.
