MORRIS – An event to bring awareness to the “Black Lives Matter” movement in Grundy County had over 70 gather at Chapin Park in Morris Wednesday afternoon. The protest, organized by a Morris woman, was held with cooperation from the Morris Police Department and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to the event, the Sheriff’s Office put out a statement requesting that they did not want armed citizens downtown protecting businesses, due to a flurry of online rumors and speculation. At the conclusion of the peaceful protest, the crowd gathered for a group photo holding signs with members of the Morris Police and Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.
