COMPTON – The new water tower for the village of Compton has been erected. It will be some time before it is put into service, but the major construction on the corner of Main & 4th Street is complete. The village received a loan of $680,000 and a grant of $956,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program for the project. Currently, a number of water mains are being replaced throughout the village, which has around 140 residents in southern Lee County.
