OGLESBY – Illinois Valley Community College has announced a new scholarship has been established to honor a Princeton Vietnam veteran. Terry Maloy’s widow Patricia established the “Home of the Free because of the Brave” scholarship to honor his life and service. Starting this fall, the $1,000 annual scholarship will go to a U.S. Army veteran pursuing a career in electrical work or nursing. Maloy passed away in 2019 at the age of 74. A lineman electrician for the city of Princeton, Maloy was superintendent of the electrical department when he retired in 1998. In 2013, the Maloy’s created the “Forever in Our Hearts” scholarship in memory of daughter Amy, killed in a 2007 car accident shortly after earning her RN degree from IVCC’s nursing program.
