Local funding bill signed by Rauner

SPRINGFIELD — A bill to release funds to local governments and pay lottery winners was signed by Governor Bruce Rauner yesterday. Senator Jason Barickman’s office says Senate Bill 2039 will appropriate funds to the local governments, who have been missing out on motor fuel tax funds to help pay for road projects, along with 911 taxes. The missing MFT funds have been delaying road projects planned in Peru and Streator. The passing of the bill means that Oglesby resident Danny Chasteen, who won $250,000 through the Illinois Lottery, will get his payout that he won in July. It also provides funding to help low-income residents pay heating bills and keep domestic violence shelters open.
